BATHROOM CONSTRUCTION

Everyone knows how remodels go. What starts out as a simple plan turns into an adventure. Our primary bathroom was no exception.

Not only was it not an exception, it was expected! Our plumbing was failing, the floors were sinking, and the tub’s drain was being held up by a brick under the house. This bathroom had been used as much as it could have been and had finally given up. Only demolition would tell us what we were in for.

We found large holes in the subfloor under the tub—large enough that we found evidence that an animal had spent some time there. One side of the bathroom was five inches lower than the other. And the toilet was pretty much hanging on by a thread. All in all, it would not have been surprising if we’d ended up in our neighbor’s yard when taking a bath.

But it’s all rebuilt now! New wiring. All new plumbing. All new level floors. New framing and walls. The entire structure is solid and sturdy. We even tapped in to the HVAC, so for the first time in its life this room has AC and heat!
