CARNIVAL VISITORS

My husband’s best friend Jeff and my sister decided to come down to visit for Muses, Mardi Gras and some manual labor. My husband has been away on active duty since last May and deployed in Iraq since September. My sister Kara and our friend Jeff helped me out with moral support for the big week.

Right away things went a little wonky. Their plane was diverted due to fog so they ended up spending their first night in hotel rooms in Dallas. Next came the parade delay, and then Kara got real sick. She and the cat stayed in bed while Jeff and I (mostly Jeff) walked in and out of the room working on switching out electrical boxes.

I’ll admit that this was not the ideal vacation it was planned to be. But these guys rolled with the punches and we still had a great time. Laughing really helps any problem. Since Krewe of Thoth rolls right in front of our house, Kara was able to come out from under the covers to enjoy a parade and we were even able to fit in a drive to Mississippi for the day so Jeff could dip his toes in the Gulf. Oh! And eat at Waffle House!

( I am still apologizing to Jeff for the outlet business. It wasn’t just ‘switching old outlets for new ones’. I neglected to notice just how much cutting and fixing needed to be done). Still, they look so nice! )
