SLOOP TAVERN

PATRICIA ROVZAR GALLERY NOVEMBER 2021

This exhibition, which focuses solely on Seattle, has inspired me to discover—and rediscover— signs in my own backyard, bringing me closer to my own family history and that of my city. Seattle has been my family’s hometown for more than one-hundred years and throughout these years the city has undergone dramatic changes. In just my lifetime it has transformed from an underdog backwater to an economic center on the world stage. But this exhibition is more than nostalgia for a hometown. It is an examination of what has been left as symbols in our skyline by those who have gone before us, and it is a consideration of what will remain after our work is done.
